Sergio Tacchini has long been powered by the tennis influence, and now at the height of fashion, we look back at the stars who made this brand exactly what it is today.
The tennis world brings business to all kinds of firms, from court marking specialists to racquet makers, and then of course clothing manufacturers. Sergio Tacchini clothing, like many other designer labels that we see today, has a rich history in sports. Tennis has been the biggest influence for this brand, and today the Sergio Tacchini collection serves the purposes of sport, fashion, casual and outdoor wear for men, women and children.
So why are tennis-influenced brands such as Sergio Tacchini so successful amongst the British consumers? Could it be the fantastically rich history that is so attractive, or the tennis stars that have been seen wearing the collections?
Sergio Tacchini – The Star Himself
Sergio Tacchini became a professional tennis player at the tender age of 17 in 1955. Just five years on, he won the title of the Italian Champion over fellow sportsman, Nicola Pietrangeli. He went on to win two Italian titles in doubles, playing with Pietrangeli as his partner.
He later created a sport infused style that can be seen with many other top designer brands. Athletes and tennis players who have worn the brand over the years include Jummy Connors, Vitas Gerulaitis, Ilie Nastase, Mats Wilander, John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova, Sergi Bruguera, Pat Cash, Gabriela Sabatini, Pete Sampras and Martina Hingis. Within its long and established history in the industry, the company has also sponsored Formula 1 drivers such as Carlose Reutemann and golfing legends such as Ian Woosnam.
Sponsored Tennis Players
Sergio Tacchini may have become widely loved with athletes and stars on a global basis, but the man behind the label has not forgotten his roots, and chooses to sponsor individuals who work the rackets on the courts. You will be able to see the collection on the likes of Tommy Robredo, Ivo Karlovic, Flavia Pennetta, Olivier Rochus, Steve Darcis and Victor Hanescu.
